Plan Your Ledger Live iOS Setup

This Ledger Live iOS setup guide covers the official iPhone app, hardware pairing, and the first account checks. The app is now called Ledger Wallet. It provides the interface, while a compatible Ledger hardware device protects the keys used to authorize transactions from its accounts.

Before starting, decide whether the hardware is new or already configured. Those are different onboarding routes. An existing wallet does not need a new recovery phrase simply because you are adding an iPhone as another way to manage it.

Check Hardware and iPhone Compatibility

Review the current iOS requirements on the official App Store listing. Reach it through Ledger’s download page and verify Ledger SAS as the developer. Install the app and complete pending iPhone updates if required.

For hardware communication, use a supported Bluetooth Ledger model, such as Nano X, Stax, or Flex. Nano S Plus has no Bluetooth and cannot connect to an iPhone through a USB cable. Choose a supported desktop or Android wired route if that is the hardware you own.

Set Up New Hardware Privately

If the Ledger is new, follow its model-specific instructions to create a PIN and generate the recovery phrase on the hardware device. Write the words down privately and preserve their exact order. Do not photograph them, place them in cloud notes, or type them into the iPhone app.

A device supplied with a prewritten recovery phrase or a predetermined PIN deserves immediate investigation. Do not use someone else’s provided words as your wallet backup. Complete the official genuine-check process before relying on the device for funds.

Connect an Existing Ledger Device

For hardware you already use, select the existing-device path, unlock it with its PIN, and start Bluetooth pairing inside Ledger Wallet. Allow the app’s Bluetooth permission in iOS. Compare any pairing codes on both screens and approve only the session you initiated.

Connecting an existing wallet does not require sending crypto anywhere or typing backup words into the phone. If pairing fails, use Ledger’s pairing troubleshooting rather than selecting a wallet-reset option.

Add Accounts for the Assets You Manage

After the genuine check, add the supported cryptocurrency accounts you need. Install the required blockchain app on the hardware when the workflow calls for it. If importing account information through a supported synchronization feature, confirm the account names and networks afterward.

Account lists are local interface information and can differ between installations. Adding a missing account is not the same as creating new private keys, and a familiar asset symbol can exist on several networks. Choose the network that matches the assets you actually hold.

Verify the First Receive and Send Actions

When requesting a receive address, connect the Ledger and compare the complete address on its screen with the app. Confirm the correct network before giving that address to an exchange or sender. A small test transfer can help validate a new route, but does not replace checking the destination.

For sending, review the destination, amount, network, and fees before approving on the hardware. Do not approve an unexpected transaction while completing setup. If the app closes after signing, check transaction status before attempting another payment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an email login to create?

The hardware-wallet connection is not an exchange account login. Third-party services available within the app can have their own separate requirements.

Can I use desktop alongside iPhone?

Yes, when both installations and connections are supported. Check current platform features and synchronize or add the appropriate accounts without entering the recovery phrase into either application.
